Meet the Staff

Diane Everett

Associate of Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Tap), Associate of Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Modern), and Advanced Member of the Royal Academy of Dance (Ballet).

I trained at the Juno School of Dance, Wickford, progressing to the Andrew Hardie School of Dance in South Kensington. After two years training I joined the renowned Bush Davies College in Romford during which time I also attended the Royal Academy of Dance at their Headquarters in Battersea.

I qualified by obtaining an Associate qualification in both Modern and Tap from the I.S.T.D. and the ballet qualification by becoming an Advanced Member of the Royal Academy of Dance.

After college I performed in numerous shows, cruises, pantomimes, summer seasons and various T.V. work. This enabled me to obtain a vast experience of the preforming arts. In September 1979 I returned to Hadleigh and opened my own Dance School with the assistance of my colleague Karen Ives. In 2000 Ema Grabowski became a partner of the school and we changed the name to the Majestic Academy of Dance. From 2000 till today Ema and I pride ourselves on creating a dedicated hardworking academy that manages to keep a happy, friendly and fun atmosphere.

Over the past 40 years all children entered for examinations in Tap, Modern, Jazz and Ballet have been successful – we are very proud of our 100% pass rate. I have also assisted other dancing schools by acting in a freelance capacity in various schools in all aspects of dance (ballet instruction, modern and tap).

I offer the full range of extra curricula activities including entering pupils for competitions, festivals, and trips to perform in Disneyland Paris and Her Majesties Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue.

I keep in touch with many ex-pupils and take a pride in their achievements which range from teaching dance, careers in musical theatre and the world of dance. Ema Grabowski my current partner is an ex pupil of the school.

Academy Motto: Dream Believe Achieve

Ema Jane Grabowski

Associate of Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Tap), Associate of Imperial Society of Dancing (Modern).

I have been dancing since the age of 6 years, coached by Miss Diane Everett. Since the early years i have achieved excellent exam results throughout the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing syllabus (ISTD). After attending college and obtaining A levels at the age of 18 years, I decided to follow my dreams in becoming a dance teacher.

I created my own pathway choosing to be coached privately for both the modern and tap associate teaching exam. Being taught by top examiners from the ISTD, Christina Ballard (CDE FISTD Examiner, ARAD Guest Lecturer) and Jackie Barns (Cert Ed FISTD)

In the year 2000, my dreams came true, as I went into partnership with Diane Everett and ‘The Majestic Academy of Dance’ was created. Since then the academy has gone from strength to strength. I have introduced the academy to festivals and competitions, where we have gained high achievements and earned an outstanding reputation. I have had the opportunity to work alongside amateur dramatic groups and supplied pupils in numerous shows, including the West End.  I have choreographed many dances for shows in Disneyland Paris, on numerous occasions and at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London, The Cliffs Pavilion, Southend, Shaftesbury Theatre, London and have choreographed for various dance parades. I regularly attend teacher training courses and pride myself in keeping up to date with the latest trends within the dance world. I am also a freelance teacher, assisting other dance schools and coaching privately. Many students that I have taught have progressed to dancing at professional dance collages, gaining a career within the industry.

I am a strong believer in that everyone can be taught to dance, no matter how slowly, as long as we are encouraging them. To teach is to touch a life forever.

Ruth Dorrington

Ruth Dorrington

LTCL (DIst.) – Licentiate of Trinity College, London with Distinction.

I have been singing on the stage since the age of four, initially taught by Madame Freda Parry OBE and latterly by Clara Roberts.  They took me through all my ABRSM singing grades and teaching examinations, auditions, Opera work, festivals and numerous concerts and shows. I also play the piano, guitar, ukulele and flute.

I have been involved with the Majestic Academy of Dance for many years. My daughter spent most of her childhood at the school and had the happiest times of her life there!

I have been the vocal trainer for MAD for many years and have had the privilege to watch dancers become ‘dancers who sing’ and can sing well! Indeed, many of our dancers have attended auditions to enter their London schools, had great success in competitions, festivals and enjoyed magical performances on the stage. I am happy to say we have seen many students fulfil their dreams and ambitions to a professional standard.

I presently teach music full time in schools in Essex. I have travelled to China with a party of school children and performed to thousands on a musical tour of the country. I have worked alongside the Royal Opera House and I have taught for Essex Music Services for many years.

I am Deputy Director for a prestigious local ladies choir and still very active in vocal performance myself.

I feel very privileged to be a part of the Majestic Academy of Dance and hope to be on the teaching team for many years to come.
